An Egyptian court sentenced Lebanese national Mona Mabhouh to 11 years in prison on Saturday after being found guilty of "insulting modesty and disregard for religion". In a statement to the press, a judicial source said that the Egyptian Juvenile Court (East Cairo) sentenced Mona Ali Mzbhouh to 11 years in prison for condemning the publication of a video of shame and contempt for religions.
The judgment is prima facie subject to appeal, according to Egyptian law.
No immediate comment was available from a nearby source or lawyer about Lebanese citizenship.
In June, Egyptian Attorney General Nabil Sadiq decided to send Mabtouh back to the urgent trial for "insulting the Egyptian people" before being arrested at the Cairo airport in application of decision.
The Attorney General said at the time that Mtbouh was "fabricated and posted public modesty content" on his Facebook page and that he "intentionally spreads false rumors that would harm society and encroach upon on religions ".
This follows reports submitted to the Crown requesting an investigation into the "mbadacres" of "ill-treatment" directed against the men and women of Egypt.
In a video posted on Facebook, Lebanese citizenship appeared for a few minutes, claiming to be subjected to "verbal harbadment" in a street in Cairo, directed against the Egyptians.
However, she later apologized to the "respected Egyptians" in another video clip. (Anatolia)
