The cities of Erbil and Karbala in Iraq are hosting for the first time in their history the West Asian Championship: the Blacks of Rafidain are looking for their second title in their history after the 2002 edition in Syria.
The hosts hope to be the third team to host the tournament, winning the title. Only two teams have achieved this feat: Iran (twice) in 2004 and 2008 and Qatar in 2014.
The worst player of this tournament was Jordan in the 2010 edition, when Al-Nashami was second in a group including Kuwait and Syria. Jordan is the host of the tournament (3 times).
Here are the number of tournament organizers since their creation in 2000, so far:
2000: Host Jordan, fourth.
2002: Host Syria, fourth.
2004: The Iran host, won the title.
2007: host Jordan, second group.
