Egyptian authorities close the Rafah crossing in southern Gaza until further notice

The Egyptian authorities closed on Tuesday morning the pbadage of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip "The Egyptian authorities have asked us to close the crossing, from Tuesday until further notice."

The press office of the Rafah terminal (affiliated with the Palestinian Authority) said in a statement released Monday night. The statement does not mention the date of reopening of the crossing.

The announcement of the closure of the Rafah terminal coincides with the decision of the Israeli authorities The closure of the Kerem Shalom commercial crossing, before the circulation of goods to the exclusion of medical and food supplies, and the decision to reduce the fishing area from 6 to 3 nautical miles.

On May 18, Cairo announced the opening of the crossing.

Rafah connects the Gaza Strip to Egypt and closes it almost completely since July 2013 and opens it at unusually sporadic intervals for the pbadage of humanitarian cases.
