Scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have developed an electronic dressing that generates an electric current that can help heal wounds very quickly.
The new dressing was tested in rats exposed to chest and back wounds. The wound healing rate using this dressing was quadrupled, according to the Major General.
The dressing works in harmony with the inspiring breathing that stimulates the generation of electrical impulses from the dressing, which in turn generate new cells in the affected area.
An innovative dressing is characterized by a low power generation that prevents any side effects such as pain or discomfort.
The researchers, who insisted on the need for additional tests on the new discovery, hope the dressing will be developed for use in treating injuries of all kinds in humans, according to the British Daily Mail.
