Fabregas shot from the first lap!

Spaniards Cesc Fabregas and his Monaco team could have imagined a worse start than their opening match against Lyon in the first day of Ligue 1 on Friday.

Monaco and Lyon saw the Spanish midfielder ejected in the 30th minute with a red card immediately after using computer-badisted video technology.

The sacking of Fabregas occurred while Leonardo Jardim's team was five minutes from time.

Fabregas was expelled after referee Rudi Bouquet used the video, the latter having decided that the Spaniard had committed a deliberate foul on the back of Lyon player Leo Dubois.

Fabregas has been sent off only three times in his Premier League career between Arsenal and Chelsea, where he made 350 appearances.
