Activities of the course for animal health workers in the framework of the project of rehabilitation of small farmers and improvement of agricultural production in Yemen, carried out by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. Agriculture (FAO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, were completed today in Aden.
The 40 participants from Abyan, Lahj Shabwa and Taiz governorates received a number of scientific concepts on the reporting system, epidemiological surveillance and vaccination campaigns, how to treat epidemics in Yemen and on the harmful effects of internal and external parasites and their spread in the country.
The undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation for the Planning and Information Sector, Ali Al-Junaid, stressed the importance of implementing the results of this course in target areas to preserve livestock in the different target areas by diagnosing animal health problems and facilitating official veterinary services. Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Khatib, director general of animal health at the ministry, said the ministry aimed, through these refresher courses, for animal health workers to ensure the sustainability of their long-term involvement and play their role in livestock conservation.
FAO Resident Representative Hussein Gadin said his organization is working with government agencies to serve rural communities and war-affected families. breeding had been implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture.
Josimo Santo, FAO's international expert, said that his organization is focusing on the most important issues related to the training of animal and veterinary health workers in order to strengthen their theoretical and practical capacities in the field of animal health, in particular providing them with bags containing the basic tools needed to help them carry out their tasks.
The undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of Agricultural Production Sector, Abdulmalik Naji, Deputy Program Representative, Dr. Mohammed Salam, attended the closing ceremony.
