Intermittent fasting is more effective than a harsh diet

Intermittent fasting can help you lose weight, but it has positive health effects, but it is no more effective than regular diets that regularly limit calories, a new study reveals.
Intermittent fasting is a modern alternative to the usual diet. The most common method is 8:16, that is, 16 hours of fasting, followed by an eight-hour period to eat normally and a method to eat normally five days a week, followed by two consecutive days during which you do not eat more than 500 calories.
Some previous studies have suggested that intermittent caloric restriction is preferable to constant calorie restriction, positively affecting the metabolic factors that link obesity to major chronic diseases.
Researchers say the new findings "suggest that intermittent calorie counting may be equal but not better than continuous calorie determination to reduce weight and prevent metabolic diseases", such as type II diabetes, cardiovascular disorders and certain cancers.
The randomized controlled trial, involving 150 overweight and obese 35- to 65-year-old smokers, was conducted over a 50-week period by an international team of researchers led by Rot Schwebel of the German Center for Cancer Research. The findings were published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
