Two new drugs, the first of this type to be designed to prevent migraine attacks, are expected to be published soon after the approval of the European Medicines Agency, reported Sky News .

Novartis stated that patients can access the drug at their expense starting in September, although this service is not offered by the National Health Service.

The drug works to prevent receptors in the brain called mesat peptide kisses, which are believed to contribute to migraines, although scientists are unsure of the main cause of the most severe headaches.

The European Medicines Agency approved the drug for patients with migraine attacks at least four times

The patient will take the drug at home using an injection pen .

The trial showed that the drug halved the number of migraine days in a month.
