LONDON (Reuters) – Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time of the first Grand Prix on Friday, while a power problem forced his teammate, Valteri Potas, to not finish the tests.

Hamilton said he could not wait to get back to his car after recovering from a problem that had stumbled into the German race on Sunday and had not taken the time to resume his pace.

Hamilton, who won a record six times and beat Botas 41 points, clocked the fastest lap time on the Hangarring circuit by 1 minute and 17.233 seconds.

Max Verstapen of Red Bull was second, 0.165 seconds later, while Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari was third at 10 seconds behind the 21-year-old Dutch driver.

Two victories took place between the last of the three, the last and the most exciting race at Hockenheim.

Hamilton wants to forget what happened to him in Germany after taking the lead and finishing in 11th place, but he progressed to ninth place, taking advantage of time penalties imposed on competitors.

The champion won five times in Hungary last year after taking the best advantage.
