Here is the number of Lebanese according to the sectarian distribution

States have periodic population statistics (every three years, every five years or more), but Lebanon is an exception to this basic rule in all countries: the first and last census of the population took place in 1932 , with 1,046,164 people.

A total of 2,367,141 people were registered without belonging to a sect, but a special study was published to identify 4,571,000 Lebanese according to sectarian affiliations.

Information International conducted research on this issue and reached the number of Lebanese at 5.5 million at the end of 2018, broken down according to the following table:

1- The number of Lebanese between 1932 and 2018 increased by 4.4 million or 426%. This percentage was not the same among the sects, with Christians reaching 174.5% against 785.1% among Muslims.

2. In 1932, Christians accounted for 58.7% of Lebanese, compared with 40% of Muslims, which changed in 2018. The percentage of Christians fell to 30.6% and the proportion of Muslims rose to 69.4%. %.

3. The highest percentage was recorded among Alawites (1052%) and Shiites (946%), while the lowest percentage among the Orthodox (147%).

4 – The Shia community ranked first in terms of numbers and represented 31.6% of Lebanese and the year was in a close rank to represent 31.3%.

5. It is unclear how many Lebanese reside in Lebanon, but their number is estimated at 4.2 million and the number of non-residents at around 1.3 million. Those who are of Lebanese origin but do not have Lebanese nationality are unknown and are valued at several million.
