LONDON (Reuters) – Manufacturing activity in the eurozone has contracted last month, its fastest pace since the end of 2012, hurt by falling demand, revealed a investigation Thursday.

The final reading of the IHS index of the retail sector index was 46.5, slightly higher than the initial reading of 46.4, but lower than the June of 47 6. This is the sixth consecutive month that the index remains below 50 points, which distinguishes growth from contraction.

The reading of the index in July was the lowest since December 2012.

New orders fell for nine consecutive months and factories removed jobs for three consecutive months.
