Mubasher: Industrial production in Italy declined but less than expected in June, with retail sales recording the largest increase in two and a half years.
Statistics published Friday by the Italian Institute of Statistics (EST) showed that the index of industrial production, seasonally adjusted, had decreased by 0.2% in June, compared with an increase 1% the previous month after the ascent.
Analysts were anticipating a 0.4% drop in industrial production in Italy in June.
On an annual basis, industrial production in Italy decreased by 1.2% in June compared to the corresponding period of 2018.
In the second quarter of this year, industrial production fell 0.7% from the first three months of the year.
In separate data, retail sales in Italy rose 1.9% in June, the largest increase since January 2017, following a 0.6% decline in May.
Analysts had forecast a 0.4% increase in Italian retail sales in June.
At 23:12 GMT, the euro was up more than 0.1% to 1,1102 USD.
