The German competition regulator has asked Facebook to stop collecting user data from various sources without the initial consent of the user, including data collected by Facebook-owned platforms such as Watsab and Entgram, as well as than third-party sources used by the giant advertisers of social networks.

The FCO (German Federal Cartel Office) gave a month to the US company to resume its historic decision, which follows a three-year investigation.

If the call fails, Tech will have to ensure that these data sources will not be collected without consent over the next four months.

Although the provision only applies in Germany, the decision may affect regulators in other states to follow the same steps.

Last month, Facebook announced plans to rebuild the infrastructure of its three platforms: Facebook, Instagram and Wbadab. These three services operate on a single, unified platform, which means that user information will be collected from different platforms.
