Arsenal has announced that his French captain Laurent Koscielny will leave his home country to join Bordeaux.

"Laurent Koscielny is leaving us to join Bordeaux in Ligue 1," the club said in a statement.

For its part, Bordeaux confirmed the signing of the defender aged 33, expressing his happiness: "rely on a player with such experience at the highest level."

The clubs did not disclose the duration of the contract that would tie the player to his new club, nor the value of the transfer contract, but press releases estimated between 5 and 6 million euros and the contract signed by the player for three years.

Kucelni has already expressed his desire to leave Arsenal, which has defended its colors since 2010, when he joined the French camp Lorient.

The player previously announced that he had received offers from French clubs, notably from Bordeaux, and had asked the London club to release him from his contract back to his country. He had even refused to join the team last month in preparation for the new season.

The French defender played 353 matches in the colors of the "Gunners", contributing to the triumph of the England Cup three times (2014, 2015 and 2017) and the shield of the company the same years.

He was named captain at the beginning of last season after retiring from former defender German captain Per Mertesacker.

Koscielny played 51 selections for France and was injured at Achilles' tendon during the World Cup final last summer in Russia.
