The Ministry of Electricity has today launched the construction and civil engineering works as well as the treatment of the infrastructure of the Rustin Lattakia village power plant, with a view to the delivery of the site. to the company "Mbana Group" of the project of installation of equipment.

The plant is expected to build 540 megawatts according to ISO terms on production generated by the establishment of the Banias gas pipeline until full commissioning of the site, based on of a manual key of 213 billion Syrian pounds implemented in stages.

The Minister of Electricity, Zuhair Kharbotli, who announced the start of construction work on the plant site, said in a statement to reporters that it includes three groups of two, one-third of whom are gas and Steam, as well as the duration of implementation of the first gas group 22 months and the second 24 months and the third 34 months, emphasizing that the power plant will be completed In Syria.

Dr. Mohammed Saad, director of the establishment of power plants at the Ministry of Electricity, between the preliminary work of installation of the site and delivery to the company charged with the execution, includes about 750,000 cubic meters of excavations and 50,000 cubic meters of landfills for a total cost of up to 2.4 billion Syrian pounds by local businesses.

He said the plant should not harm the environment in addition to the generators that it includes, including two recovery boilers and a dry cooling tower to reduce water consumption, highlighting that the power plant would supply the power grid in general and the province of Lattakia in particular.

For his part, the engineer Hbadan Hbadan, head of the project department of the Syrian gas company and chairman of the monitoring committee for the commissioning of the gas pipeline linking Banias to the site of Al-Rastan until To the gas pipeline linking the station linking Banias to the site 76 kilometers in diameter and 24 inches and includes two valve stations and a decompression station with three lines each can accommodate about 62,000 cubic meters per hour at a rate of 1.5 million cubic meters per day and will have two service lines and another reserve and a nominal capacity of up to 6 million cubic meters per day.

The commissioning of the plant is due to the increase in electricity demand in the coastal zone to 1,200 MW, compared to 700 MW currently.

The minister was accompanied by Lattakia Governor Ibrahim Khader Al Salem.
