The Lebanese international festival "Byblos" announced the cancellation of the concert, scheduled for August 9, after the Laila project was accused of abusing Christianity.
"The decision was made to prevent bloodshed and maintain security and stability," said the festival's administration in a statement Tuesday.
"The situation has become hysterical with direct threats to the safety of the public and artists," said festival director Naji Paz, quoted by Agence France-Presse news agency.

The group faces a campaign of anger and demands the cancellation of its ceremony, especially from the Maronite Church, as well as a group called "Soldiers of the Lord".
The Episcopal Committee of the Catholic Church called on the relevant authorities and authorities to take "necessary measures to prevent any possibility for anyone to touch religions and stop the party".
The state security apparatus had investigated with some members of the group, then the Mount Lebanon prosecutor, Judge Ghada Aoun, released his trial on Wednesday, July 24.
The Laila project has been produced in various parts of Lebanon in recent years, particularly in the ancient city of Byblos.
