LONDON (Reuters) – Liverpool won the European Super Cup for the fourth time in its history after beating Chelsea on penalties after losing 2-0.

Chelsea opened the scoring with French striker Olivier Giroud (36) before Senegal's Sadio Mane equalized early in the second period, then the same player added Liverpool 95's second goal and Chelsea matched by the Italian Jorginho (101 penalty).

It was the first time this match between two English teams after Liverpool was crowned in the Champions League last season and winner of the Chelsea Europa League.
