Liverpool continued to pursue Manchester City, in the battle of the top competition in the English Premier League, after winning an exciting 3-1 victory at Bernley, in the 15th phase of the competition.
Burnley made a surprise move, signed by Jack Cork in the 54th minute, but James Milner tied for Liverpool in the 62nd minute.
Brazilian striker Roberto Fermino added the second goal to Liverpool in the 69th minute, while Switzerland's Sheridan Shakiri scored the third goal in the 90th minute.
Liverpool, who won their fourth consecutive victory, climbed to 39 points in second place, just two points behind leader Citi, while Burnley was nine points ahead in 19th.
Chelsea falls in Wolverhampton
In another match, Chelsea's hopes of leading the match were badly hit by their sudden loss to Wolverhampton.
Chelsea had 31 points in fourth place, while Wolverhampton had 19 points in 12th place.
Robin Loftus Chek took the lead in the 18th minute, but Raul Jimenez equalized in the 59th minute and Deogo Gota added Wolverhampton's second goal in the 63rd minute.
This is Wolverhampton's fifth win in the tournament this season, the first one almost two months ago.
United draws with Arsenal
A 2-2 draw was organized for Manchester United and Arsenal.
