LONDON, Aug 8 (Reuters) – Manchester United striker Leroy Sane has been injured in the cruciate ligament in the right knee, the club said on Thursday.
The club said Sani, who has been interested in Bayern Munich for the last seven seasons, suffered a cruciate ligament injury in his right knee during the Community Shield match against Liverpool last Sunday.
He added that Sani had "pbaded tests this week with a medical specialist" to determine the nature of his injury and "will undergo surgery in the next week", without specifying the duration of his absence.
Earlier in the day, Kicker magazine and the Bild newspaper reported that the 23-year-old had been stronger than expected and that it would take a long time to recover after the operation.
