Researchers from the Microsoft security and protection team have discovered that Russian hackers have hacked into a number of companies and government institutions using IoT devices, known as D & C. IoT devices, according to the MSRC website, specializing in the news of the security of information.
Russian hackers took advantage of the vulnerabilities and security vulnerabilities of some devices that allowed them to sneak.
Microsoft noted that target companies routinely used LoT target devices, including Internet telephones (VOIPs), printers, and video decoders (video decoders).
Microsoft reported that it detected two instances of device piracy without resorting to complex operations to break the protection, as the latter still operated with manufacturer-defined default pbadwords.
The company said that the group of hackers called Strontium and bears another name, "Fancy Bear and APT28".
Although Microsoft has detected hackers at an early stage and sent over 1,400 notifications to companies and organizations that may be at risk, the risk remains because of the widespread proliferation of IoT devices.
The Microsoft team urged users of LoT devices to adopt effective protections for their networks, while asking the company to discontinue the manufacture of these products with virtual pbadwords in order to no longer have the opportunity to exploit them as easy loopholes for hackers.
