The Cardiff City striker, Emiliano Sala, died of a plane crash in the United States, reported Sun newspaper Wednesday.
The blood test revealed that Sala and the pilot had been exposed to a harmful amount of carbon monoxide, a colorless and odorless gas that could damage the brain, heart and nervous system of the human being.
Exposure to carbon monoxide could reduce or hinder the driver's ability to drive due to the amount of gas to which he has been exposed.
Sala, who moved from Nantes to Cardiff during the winter transfer window, was killed when a small plane carrying him crashed into the English Channel on 21 January.
After looking for the wreck for several days, British authorities announced that the pilot's body, David Ipotson, had been found and transferred to his territory.
