US space agency NASA announced Thursday that it has successfully developed the first earthquake measuring instrument on Mars.
NASA has stated that the InSight probe has successfully installed the first seismic device on the surface of Mars called Seismic Experiment for Internal Structure (SEIS).
InSight Project Manager Tom Hoffman said in a press release that "the Insight-on-Mars activity calendar is going better than expected, the seismic focus on the surface has become a wonderful birthday gift ".
The Insight probe, which reached Mars on November 26 after a six-month trip, is expected to begin seismic work on Mars and collect information on the inner layers of the planet. –
