Dr. Lars Nyb has announced the creation of a new treatment for migraines, the first treatment of the disease, based on drugs for the treatment of other diseases, such as epilepsy or beta blockers.
The German neurologist explained that the new treatment is an injection that attacks the CGRP and its receptors, a substance that is part of the neurotransmitters, plays an important role in migraines, according to the BBC.
He added that the new treatment contributed to a large extent to reducing the number of migraine attacks, indicating that the patient could inject every 4 weeks to cope with chronic migraine, which prolongs his attacks by 15 days per month.
