Mozilla, the owner of Firefox, will automatically start blocking video and audio playback later this year.
She confirmed that the new feature was included in the Firefox 66 desktop version and in the new Firefox updates for the Android system. Its launch is scheduled for March 19th.
Mozilla said on its website that the next version prevents any audio or video from operating without the user's request, which means that the user will have to click the "Run" button to allow the start of the content, noting that the new feature includes sites that the user previously used. Run it automatically like YouTube or Netflix.
Users can disable site blocking that they want to enable by default. The URL bar contains a code indicating the automatic blocking. Click on it to display a list that allows users to modify the settings.
Firefox also automatically allows video to appear on sites that have access to the camera and microphone, videoconference sites, and will work without interruption.
Mozilla has been blocking all AutoPlay content for some time. Last year, the company announced that Firefox no longer allowed auto-execution to attempt to reduce annoying ads that would erase their message without permission. Chrome, Edge, Apple Safari is taking steps to reduce the number of media that runs automatically.
