Nintendo Games profits dropped 10% in the second quarter

Japanese entertainment and gaming giant Nintendo fell 10% in the second quarter to 27.42 billion yen ($ 252 million) against 30.53 billion yen ( $ 275 million) for the same period last year.

The Japanese company announced Tuesday that its revenues for the period from April to June 2019 had increased by 2.4% to 172.11 billion yen (1.5 billion dollars), against 168.15 billion yen for the same period in 2018.

The company said it sold about 2.1 million units in the second quarter of 2019 and maintained its estimates of sales of its control devices at 18 million units.

In July, Nintendo announced a cheaper and lighter version of Switch Lite, priced at $ 200, which will be available on September 20, 2019.

Nintendo Entertainment and Home Entertainment has sold up to 35 million Switch devices since its debut in March 2017.

Nintendo was founded in September 1889 in the city of Kyoto to produce playing cards called Hanavoda, which produced several games such as Super Mario Odyssey in 2017.
