Russian Habib Nurmmadov, world lightweight champion in mixed martial arts, reacted strongly to comments by Irishman Connor McGregor on social media.
"I will live with this shame throughout your life," Habib said via his personal account on Instagram, illustrating the crucial moment when the Irishman asked to surrender during his UFC 229 tournament in Las Vegas on 6 October.
Habib posted the photo in response to McGregor's Thursday release of a video in which Habib was accused of having chatted during the match, which had led them to the title of world champion.
McGregor appeared in the video with his former colleague Pauli Malingaghi, a member of his team, who worked with him before the historic debut in Ireland with American boxer Floyd Mayweather.
Mallegnaga left McGregor's camp after a dispute with McGregor about a training video that ran two weeks before Mayweather's KO win.
McGregor commented on the video that Malingaghi was talkative like Habib, and confirmed that he had faced Habib by declaring after the end of the third round: "Do not be talkative," adding that Habib was still in the process to chat and make signs, even in the fourth round.
The match ended between Habib and MacGregor in the fourth round, after the latter had asked to surrender in the wake of a sweltering court run by the Russian.
The 30-year-old retained the title of world lightweight champion, raising his career to 27 points without losing, while the Irishman suffered his fourth loss in 21 years.
