Obesity causes deterioration of kidney function

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – A recent study suggests that kidney function deteriorates with an increase in obesity, whether or not it has kidney problems.

The study, conducted in Pennsylvania, found that obese adults are more likely to have kidney failure than just overweight adults.

Excess weight can activate the sympathetic nervous system that secretes hormones that can increase sodium retention and blood pressure. This also makes it difficult for the body to get rid of extra sugar in the blood, which leads to diabetes.
