Qatari hosts Al Sadd have been confirmed for the next Club World Cup after being eliminated from the last 16 games of the AFC Champions League.

Al-Zaim, who beat their Qatari opponents on Tuesday after the first leg by three goals to a goal, was the first leg ended with a positive draw with one goal each, to qualify Al-Sadd in the round of 16. (See the match report)

Al Sadd was crowned Qatari league champion last season 2018-2019, but that was not enough to represent Qatar at the next World Cup, according to the laws in force.

After winning the national league, the leader did not need any other Qatari team to win the AFC 2019 Champions League, where he would have qualified instead. Al Sadd, but he is now the only representative of Qatar in the continental championship.
