(Reuters) – US Open champion Naomi Osaka qualified for the third round of the Australian Open on Thursday after defeating Slovenian Tamara Zidanek 6-2 6-4 .
Osaka, the No. 4 seed in the Japanese, was organized to give Zidanek, number 78 in the world rankings, a glimmer of hope allowing him to survive at Margaret Court Stadium.
However, the fourth seed of the tournament won the day and Taiwan's Hsieh Suwei will face a fourth round seat.
