(Reuters) – Georgian Nikolos Pasilashvili won the European Championship in Hamburg for the second year in a row after beating Andrei Robleves 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 on Sunday.
Fourth-seeded Pacilashvili won 81% of his first points and managed 26 strikes to win his 12th consecutive victory on clay in Hamburg, including 10 in key roles.
It's the third title for the 27-year-old UEFA Champions League athlete, after his victory in Beijing last year.
Pasilashvili, the world number 16, who had two chances to win the semi-final against world number five Alexander Zverev, sent Robleves to the start of the playoffs twice and kept the chance to settle in just over two o'clock.
The Russian Robleve failed to increase his championship after winning his first title at Omag in 2017, but was pleased with his superb career this week, which included a two-game win over Dominique Tim, seeded in semi final.
"It was a good week for me, and at the moment it was my best week."
"A defeat in the final is certainly frustrating, but Nicolaus did a great job and deserved the title, winning two consecutive titles here is incredible, it's very difficult, it's mentally hard to do." ;It's incredible".
