"What went into the Future Movement into something but ruined," is what was finally discussed by the sons of Beddawi, Minya and Deir Ammar, after learning of the sudden decision to create a landfill in fountains (Zgharta district), accused of staying nearby. The proposed landfill in the Tripoli border area was a temporary solution to the waste crisis that had been exacerbated for several months in various regions of the north. The crisis intensified after the closure of an enemy landfill, giving its owners more than six months to the recipient's municipalities to find an alternative solution. However, the municipalities concerned did not take the successive warnings seriously, suggesting that the crisis was manufactured from the beginning and that some wanted to bring it to an end, which we are witnessing today.

At a meeting that recently brought together several northern MPs with the Minister of the Environment, Fadi Griissati, in order to find solutions to the crisis, the "proposal" appeared. The demonstration turned into an open sit-in initiated by Al-Fawwar's sons on the proposed site, where they pitched the tents and searched the ground, sporting banners rejecting the minister's decision of the Environment. Protests escalated yesterday after the public heard of the rumor that "a large armed force will stop the sit-in," with hundreds of hundreds of people joining protesters. Residents expressed resentment at "loading their area and waste from the rest of the area". They told Al-Akhbar: "We accuse all political forces, without exception, of participating in the crime of violence."
