Qatar international table tennis eligible for Tokyo Olympics

The International Table Tennis Federation (IPF) has announced that the next edition of the Qatar International Championship, which runs from March 3 to 8, will be eligible for the first edition of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has adopted 15 new competitions at the next Summer Olympic Games, including the addition for the first time of the mixed doubles table tennis, as well as existing competitions: men's singles, women's singles, male teams and women's teams.
The International Federation has officially contacted its Qatari counterpart to adopt the mixed doubles at the upcoming Qatar International Championship, marking the 25th anniversary of the launch of the first edition.
The tournament will be the second organized by Qatar that year and will be eligible for the Olympic Games, after the International Federation of Qatar has granted the right to organize the qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at the Olympic Games. between 26 and 29 May.
