Rally Dakar 2019: Lube seizes the summit of the sixth stage of Attiyah

After the rest day of Arquipa riders on Saturday, the engines returned to the wreckage with the special 336km phase between Arquipa and San Juan de Marcona.

Al-Attiyah led from the first point after the second leg behind Lob, Qatar's closest competitor: the Peugeot 3008 DCR has nothing to lose after being eliminated from first place. Thus, the French pursued a policy of urgent attack to reduce what could be reduced during the second half of the rally.

Al-Attiyah made his way by extending his control from the first to the sixth point, until Lubb made it to the seventh pbad, where the latter took the lead of one minute and 26 seconds, knowing that 39, Al-Attiyah was in the lead 1 minute 17 seconds before Loeb.

Loeb maintained his lead by finishing the season with a total of 3 hours, 39 minutes and 21 seconds and 17 minutes of Al Attia, 37 minutes on the French side. This is the third victory of the LOP in one of the stages of the 2019 Dakar.

Carlos Sainz, who has replaced a lot these last kilometers, finished eighth from third to third place.

Cyril Debre is ranked fourth ahead of Nani Roma. Stephan Petrancell, who was second in the overall standings, slipped to third place at 41 minutes and 14 seconds behind Al Attiyah. The Frenchman finished the stage at 18 minutes 49 seconds behind his compatriot.

Seventh place goes to Martin Prokop, awarded to Jeanette de Villiers and Bernhard Tin Brinke.
