MADRID (Reuters) – Real Madrid closed their semi-final in the Spanish Cup semi-final on Thursday after a 3-1 win in Girona on Thursday.
Frenchman Karim Benzema (27, 43), Marcos Yorenti (76) scored Real Madrid's goals and Pedro Boro (71) scored the goal for Girona.
Ria Madrid won 4-2 last Thursday at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
Real Madrid has been in the hands of the Barcelona champions in the last four years, Real Betis and Valencia.
This is the first time that Real Madrid has qualified for the semi-finals of the competition since its 19th consecutive title in 2013/2014.
Real Madrid were defeated by former international striker Benzema, who scored two goals, and goalkeeper Kellor Navas, who scored several goals in the first period.
