Samsung unveiled a new 64-megapixel camera sensor in May, and in the last days of July, we know the identity of one of the first companies to use this sensor on their smartphones. The company involved here is Redmi, who has already released a photo that was probably taken with his 64-megapixel smartphone on his official account on the Chinese social network Weibo.
Xiaomi 's subsidiary said that the smart phone business had officially entered the 64 – megapixel era and that one had to wait for a phone with a 64 – megapixel sensor in the near future.
The image does not specifically indicate that the sensor used here is the Samsung sensor, but given the timing, it is very likely that Redmi decided to use the sensor from the South Korean company on his next phone. Even though smart phones are capable of producing 64 megapixel photos several years ago, this is the first time that the sensor can produce images with such details.
The sensor of the next Redmi phone uses Tetracell integration technology, which combines pixels to form large pixels and capture 16 megapixels only in dimly lit environments. Of course, you probably have the choice to take 64 megapixels using all the pixels of the sensor, but this is only recommended for good lighting because it does not provide additional details such as the imaging mode in which the pixels are merged. We also expect improved autofocus and fullHD videos captured at 480 frames per second.
This sensor also supports HDR in real time. We are ready to support this phone from its launch by the Xiaomi Redmi sub-brand.
