Unipec hired a super-exporter to ship US crude to China in September. This is the first shipment since US President Donald Trump announced new tariffs on Chinese imports, ending a one-month trade truce, sources said.
According to data from Refinitiv Icon, Unipec, the commercial arm of the state-owned oil refiner, Sinopec, has reached an agreement that supertanker Ann would ship US crude oil in mid-September. An oil tanker the size of Ann can carry about 2 million barrels of oil.

The data showed that Unipec had loaded three other tankers or was preparing to leave the United States this month.

China is expected to receive nearly 11 million barrels of US crude oil in August, the largest amount since June 2018, according to data from Reventiv Ship Tracking. It is expected to reach an additional 4.1 million barrels in September.
