MADRID (Reuters) – The River Plate arrived Thursday morning in Madrid to prepare for the Copa Libertadores Cup final at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, a day after the arrival of Boca Juniors in the Spanish capital.

2500 police officers are expected to join the first two Argentineans on Sunday, ranked among the fiercest clashes of the sport and transferred from the River Plate stadium to Real Madrid because of the riots.

The Paseo de la Castellana, which connects the heart of Madrid and the stadium, will be closed Sunday at 9:00 am (08:00 GMT), police separating the two teams to avoid violence.

The match was scheduled for November 24 but was postponed after Boca players were injured when the team bus was attacked by River Plate supporters in front of the capital Buenos Aires.

The first leg match at the Boca stadium was over a 2-2 draw last month and despite traveling to another continent and 10,000 kilometers apart, all tickets to the return leg at the Bernabeu stadium, with a capacity of 85 000 seats, are exhausted.
