The Argentinian River Plate won the Libertadores Cup with a 3-1 win over Boca Juniors after an overtime Sunday in Madrid after a two-day delay due to violence in Buenos Aires.
River will represent the South American continent at the Club World Cup, which begins in the UAE on December 12th.
Boca scored the first goal before half-time with Dario Benedetto but Lucas Prato equalized in the second half to give the teams more time.
Wilmar Barrios de Voca was sent off after a minute of overtime and his replacement, Juan Fernando Cantero River, took advantage in the 108th minute, before Gonzalo Martinez scored 3-1 at the last minute.
River 5-3 won the final score.
The top two Argentinian teams drew 2-2 in the first leg on 11 November.
The Bucca bus was attacked by river fans in front of Monumental Stadium before the return match scheduled for November 24, delaying the match twice before being transferred to Madrid.
