River Plate arrived Thursday morning in Madrid to prepare for the final of the Copa Libertadores Cup at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium a day after the arrival of Boca Juniors in the Spanish capital.
2500 police officers are expected to join the first two Argentineans on Sunday, ranked among the fiercest clashes of the sport and transferred from the River Plate stadium to Real Madrid because of the riots.
The Paseo de la Castellana, which connects the heart of Madrid and the stadium, will be closed Sunday from 09:00 (08:00 GMT). The police will separate the two teams to avoid violence. The match was scheduled for Nov. 24 but was postponed after Boca players were injured when the team bus was attacked by River Plate fans.
