CAIRO (AFP) – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Tuesday the final list of candidates for the title of Player of the Year, which included the Egyptian Mohamed Salah, award holder, Senegalese defender Sadio Manet and the Bayer-Imrek Obamyang of Arsenal.
The final list was released Tuesday, one week before the awards ceremony in Dakar, Senegal on January 8th.
The competition will be the strongest between the best African player 2017 and Obamiang, who won the prize in 2015, and Sanet in search of his first crown.
The three are the best players in the Premier League.
Salah and Sané took a big lead in the league after 20 games, seven points behind the Manchester City champion, scoring 13 goals and Sanet added eight goals to 48 for Liverpool.

Mania, 26, is on the Tawalia final list for the third year. A third in 2016 that marked the crowning of the Algerian Riyad Mehrez and the second place behind Salah last year. Senegal hopes to become the second player in his country to receive this prize after Diouf.
