The director of the Sarajevo Film Festival said that some of the world's greatest filmmakers, including Oscar-winning Mexican Alejandro Inarrito, will present their films at the festival's 25th edition in August.
A group of moviegoers founded the festival in 1995 to challenge the siege of Sarajevo by the Bosnian Serb forces for 43 months. It is the largest film competition in a region from Vienna to Istanbul.
The festival will celebrate its annual birthday this year by inviting a host of movie stars to present their experiences to young professionals.
"Since the launch of the festival, our main goal is to become a solid platform to discover, support and promote talent in the region," said festival director Mirsad Purifatra.
The festival will hold 53 films in four sections from August 16th to 23rd.
The jury will be directed by Swedish filmmaker and writer Robin Ostlund, whose "The Field" (La Place) won the Palme d'Or at Cannes at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
