CAIRO (Reuters) – The Saudi Football Federation (HFA) has signed a contract with French coach Hervé Renard to lead the "Green" for two and a half years, replacing Argentine coach Juan Pietzi.
"The official announcement that the French coach will take over the leadership of the Saudi team will take place in the next two days," said Sunday the Saudi sports daily Al-Riyadiyya.
Saudi Arabia has begun negotiations with Rennar after announcing his resignation from the Moroccan national team after his start in the round of 16 African Nations Cup finals.
Aged 50, he has a good record of training on the African continent after forming Zambia and Ivory Coast and having crowned them from the Africa Cup of Nations to become the first coach to win the Africa Cup of Nations with two different teams. He then led the Moroccan team and qualified for the World Cup after 20 years of absence.
