Hawaii is facing a catastrophic eruption of the Kilauea volcano in the future, the US Geological Survey announced. The reason will be the accumulation of water at the bottom of the hole, according to the site "Life Science".

According to a study conducted by scientists, three reservoirs have formed in the pit, its depth is still unknown. The largest lakes are 14 m wide.

The accumulation of water has occurred due to cracks in the rocks. At the same time, the crater itself, due to the previous eruption, descended 300 meters and was exposed to groundwater.

According to the researchers, the ponds will unite sooner or later and the subsequent eruption of the red heating magma will turn the water into steam and a powerful explosion will occur.

The volume of magma can also increase due to the appearance of many gas bubbles, which will increase the strength of the explosion. According to scientists, the consequences would be disastrous due to the release of a huge amount of gas and rocks in the air.

At present, there is not much water in the reservoirs located under the volcano, so no explosion is expected in the near future.
