Snyder announces retirement from football

Former Dutch international midfielder Wesley Sneijder has confirmed his retirement from football at the age of 35.

Snyder confirmed the club's official website in his hometown of Utrecht, where he decided to rent one of the Galgenvard stadium rooms to watch his team's matches during the 2019-2020 season.

"My feelings for this city are great," said Snyder, who played 134 games. "Now that I stop playing football, I want to enjoy a great place to share my memories."

Snyder made his international debut on April 30, 2003 against Portugal in a friendly (1-1) match, while he was 19 and defending Ajax Amsterdam.

Wesley led his country to the 2010 World Cup final and sided with Spain 0-1 after overtime and then to the Brazil World Cup semifinals four years later , where his team finished third.

In addition to Ajax Amsterdam, Snyder has played for Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Galatasaray, Nice French and Al Gharafa of Qatar.
