Dr. Sulaiman Abdul-Jabbar, undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, emphasized the importance of early preparation for Ebola virus disease and strengthened surveillance, monitoring and acquisition efforts regional experiences in this area.
Speaking at the National Workshop on Assessment of Ebola Preparedness and Operational Readiness for Cross-Border Illness, organized by the Federal Ministry of Health, represented by the Department of Emergency Management and Disaster Management. Epidemiology in cooperation with the World Health Organization at the Corinthia Hotel in Khartoum, today, South Sudan, pointing out that Sudan borders with the southern longest border compared to other countries.
Abdul-Jabbar said the purpose of the workshop was to identify the plan prepared for the preparation, adding that the disease was a deadly disease and was causing a very high percentage of deaths, highlighting the need for the caution and the application of protection and the need to protect citizens.
For his part, Dr. Babakker, Director of the Department of Emergencies and Federal Health Epidemiology, agreed that his ministry be ready and that a comprehensive plan be developed to strengthen disease surveillance and early detection as well as as laboratories and health awareness.
He also called for the training of health personnel and the strengthening of the information system, in addition to joining efforts with the relevant authorities to protect the country from this disease, stressing the need to protect air access and borders.
Dr. Emad Ahmed Ismail, representative of the World Health Organization, revealed at the time that the death rate from the disease in the State of Congo amounted to 1702 deaths out of 2526 cases.
