Taking aspirin daily has no protective effect

Sharjah 24 / AFP:

Millions of healthy people take a light daily dose of aspirin to reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke, but more and more studies have put doubts about the effectiveness of this preventive measure.

An increasing number of studies, especially since last year, have shown the risks of aspirin, which is not often mentioned, and in many homes this drug may have a bleeding bleeding.

A new badysis published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (gamma) indicates that the benefits of aspirin in terms of cardiovascular health in healthy people are offset by an increased risk of bleeding, especially from the brain and intestines.

"There is no reason for healthy people to take regular aspirin," Sean Xing, a cardiology doctor at Kings College London, told AFP.

"Our data shows that there is a real risk," he said. "People should not take this medicine as harmless."

However, the risks are very low: cardiovascular diseases are very rare in people without antecedents, as well as bleeding in the case of aspirin.
