The big concert, which was to take place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Festival, was canceled, said one of the organizers after a series of difficulties and withdrawals.

"We are saddened by a series of unexpected setbacks that have made it impossible to organize the festival we had imagined," said Michael Lang, one of the organizers of the first Woodstock festival.

On July 25, organizers announced a new location for the concert at the Meriwether Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland after several failures when obtaining permission to hold the event in Vernon, in northeastern New York State.

The organizers of the festival, which was scheduled to take place from August 16 to 18, originally chose Watkins Glen, in upstate New York, some 230 km from Bethel's main site, in the extreme southwest of the state.

However, the site was restricted given the expectations of the organizers who were counting on the arrival of 150,000 people, while the production company confirmed that the site could not accommodate more than 65,000 people.

The organizers were also unable to obtain the necessary authorization to organize the festival on this circuit before Formula 1, whose owners have finally requested the cancellation of the contract.

In addition to the ambiguity of the site, the organizers also encountered funding problems.

The project's largest financial partner, Emplife Life, withdrew the organizers by $ 18 million.

Executive production company Superfly also pulled out due to doubts about the feasibility of the project.

Before the last cancellation, doubts were expressed about the participation of two artists previously announced, including Jay-Z, Miley Cyars and Santana.

At the first Woodstock Festival, which took place from August 15 to 18, 1969, nearly half a million people attended this event which, after half a century, remains the largest chain culture of the hippie culture of the 1960s and 1970s.
