UEFA has announced the nominations for the European Footballer Trophy of the year 2018-2019.
Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk will be opposed to Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona star Lionel Messi, according to the official website of UEFA.
Van Dyck led Liverpool in the Champions League and European Super Cup at the expense of Tottenham and Chelsea respectively.
For his part, Cristiano Ronaldo won the Italian Serie A title in his first season at Juventus. Messi also contributed to Barcelona's victory as Spain's champion.
Liverpool's Mohamed Salah was missing from the final list after finishing sixth behind Reds duo Sadio Mane and Allison Baker.
Eden Hazard, former Real Madrid and Chelsea midfielder, former Ajax duo Frankie De Jong and former Juventus midfielder Raheem Sterling are on the list.
The winner will be announced on August 29th.
The competition between Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and the Egyptian team last year, and Luka Modric, Real Madrid midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo, then the star of Real Madrid and Juventus.
