Boko Haram gunmen killed six civilians in an ambush by a cargo convoy accompanied by the army in northeastern Nigeria, 15 kilometers from Gamburu town, on the border with Cameroon.

Abu Bakr Yusuf, who lives in Gamboro, said he saw the remains of the vehicles on Thursday morning: "I saw trucks lined up, all burned, and there was only ash left."

"Six people were killed in the ambush are five men and one woman." For its part, the spokesman of the army, Texas Chocio, responded to a message to AFP: "This is not true."

The army and the government of Nigeria say they are about to defeat The Boko Haram group, whose rebellion has killed at least 20,000 people since 2009.
