The European Union announces the names of the candidates for the prize of the best player of Europe

UEFA has announced the triumph of Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool defender Lionel Messi, captain of Barcelona and Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus. Best player of Europe 2019.

Messi led Barcelona to the Champions League semi-finals and managed to win the title of the tournament's top scorer with 12 goals without winning the championship.

Ronaldo has not managed to cross Juventus since the quarterfinals against Ajax of Amsterdam, but led Portugal to the European Championship at the first edition.

Ronaldo has been the most awarded player with three times, followed by Messi, who has won twice, while Van Dijk is looking for his first title.

The winner of the European Year of the Year award will be announced in the draw for the next edition of the Champions League, to be held in the Principality of Monaco on the 29th of this month.
